This clarifies the issue....judging from these graphs, there's a very even response between odd and even harmonics. So, is mistracking the main source of distorsion, or is it the cartridges inability .......

Thanks, interesting :-) 5th harmonic, though it is a pleasing harmonic by itself, would be a problem if we look at it from a musical perspective. Sure, thirds are very common in vocal harmonies for ex .......

Actually, it's A below middle C that's 220 Hz, according to the well-tempered scale. And in fact, pianos aren't really tuned to the well-tempered scale, but this is another issue ;-) Yes, the odd-orde .......

Yes, I find that most albums from this period sounds better on vinyl. An important factor is the deterioration of the original tapes, though. Somewhere in the 70's, a new kind of tapes were introduced .......

Considering how popular older turntable designs are today (idler-drive Duals, Lencos, AR et c), I wonder if their original designs could be bad for the records. Of course, there are much better tonear .......

Nakamichi used to calibrate the Dolby circuits with TDK SA, if I remember correctly. I have an Nakamichi 600 that sounds fantastic with this tape. .......

There is definitely something special about a good idler-wheel design. My Lenco L75 just sounds so powerful and dynamic. The rumble can be minimized in several ways, although I don't think it is a ser .......

Many musicians I know have worn out LP copies as they have been picking out the chords and melodies of tunes, and playing the same passages repeatedly many times. From what I've read, the vinyl melts .......

I thought that the reason a square wave could be recorded on vinyl, was because of the limited bandwidth taking away the sharp edges of the square wave, and making the rise and fall time more gradual, .......

Pure, perfect square waves are also problematic with vinyl, if you think of what the groove would look like. Assuming that we only need 20 to 20k bandwidth, the square wave will be reproduced but filt .......
