Pure, perfect square waves are also problematic with vinyl, if you think of what the groove would look like.

Assuming that we only need 20 to 20k bandwidth, the square wave will be reproduced but filtered down to 20k. It wouldn't be a perfect square wave, but since every piece of audio equipment has limited bandwidth, it wouldn't matter. The harmonics that will be missing, is those harmonics above the Nyquist frequency.
