Being on a budget.....

...in my AR XB table I've used Denon DL160, DL110, Ortofon OM10 and currently Audio-Technica AT110.

The Denon DL110 was by far the best sounding of these carts, it sounded great right away while Ortofon OM10 was the least satisfying one. Not unlistenable, but too much "in-your-face", tiring in other words. The AT falls somwhere in-between, but it is not broken-in yet.

Listening to a 35-year old Shure M75 type II with black contact pins and dried-out suspension is of course a completely different experience, but it would be unfair to include them. Although, many people put down vinyl just because of these old carts that happens to be mounted in their turntables!

Cheers,

/Peter
