I used to go to library sales with a friend of mine who was a serious collector and small dealer of books. I met some bigger dealers, some of whom actually made their livings this way.
A library sale to these guys is extremely competitive. They line up early, rush in, and scoop up merchandise madly, then carefully going though and discarding later. Anything potentially valuable is gone quickly.
At any rate, in southern California, there are library sales almost every weekend. Libraries are always getting rid of things. CDs are commonly available. And the dealers are always buying stuff to sell.
The other alternative is that someone stole this from a library and it got fenced and you ended up the retail buyer. You can never know, but I think it's more likely a dealer picked this up very cheaply at a sale, probably along with lots of others.
