No, of course they do but they have a lot of influences at many colleges.
Listening to my daughter, who recently graduated from a very liberal institution (guess which one? and a suma cum laude I might brag) you are very outside the norm if you have conservative views. I can tell you it is not uncommon to be ostracized at many colleges if you have conservative leanings.
