I'm not quite sure how engineers b.ew it with the advent of recording Jazz in stereo, b.t what I have found....much like in 60s RR,..... instruments hard right or hard left....argghh!! The only way I can listen to the B.ll Evans trio is tracking it with a Mono cartridge....that goes for all the rest of my 60s Jazz vinyl as well.. B. the 1970s, they had figured it out finally. Most all my McCoy Tyner from that era has a b.autiful stereo spread. Now I realize that there were ob.ious exceptions to the rule. I just can't recall any in my lib.ary. AS for Jazz piano trios.....I simply listen to artists who have recorded in the past 20 years on Ceedee...truth b. told.
