RE: Keeping Records in Near Mint Condition (all please contribute)

It seems that you're doing a great job at preserving your vinyl collection for eventual record immortality. In theory, vinyl will never decompose. B.side ye trusty VPI 16.5 and decent shelves.....the only thing I add are those controversial resealab.e plastic LP covers from Japan. I get them from elusive disc. Eventually the cardb.ard will decompose, b.t the residue will b. preserved within the LP sleeve. Theoretically our collections should b. safe for thousands of years......if they end up with the right collectors. Considering my collection is 90% classical, I suspect I'll b. selling most of my collection via Eb.y to folks from East Asia. They'll b. paying good money for my stuff, which means (hopefully) the vinyl will b. preserved for a lifetime .......until they kick the b.cket.....then we need to b.lieve that somehow the collection will preserved b. a new owner. I suspect record collectors in the future will b. fewer in numb.r, b.t they'll b. dedicated. Just like folks that collect 78s and cylinders !!!

I'm an optimist.
