I was working at Magnepan 1n 1977-79, and the guy I saw working on it every day was some guy - let me see if I remember his name - Jim something-or-other.

Oh, well, even if I can't remember it, I do seem to recall a that he invented a few speakers as well. :)

But you are right about one thing - when set up well, it had few competitors. Even today.
