That's a great recording/performance of Schumann. Novaes's Schumann is'nt quite up to the transcendence of Sviatoslav Richter, b.t she's a refreshing alternative at times. Kempff is up there as well......and try to get a hold of one of Cortot's Schumann recordings. It might b. a pleasant surprise. This might come as a shock, b.t I do listen to quite a b.t of Horowitz's recordings of Rob.rt S. as well. You can't deny the man's b.illiant technique. I've come to an understanding of the man. His aesthetic approach to music is where I have prob.ems. I'm more of a Artur Schnab.l, Adolph B.sch, Sviatoslav Richter kinda guy.......servants to the music.....and only the music....the audience can either like it or lump it!
B.endel is just a sad failure as far as I'm concerned.....atleast after his VOX days. He simply over intellectualized himself out of the music. I do enjoy reading his essays.
