In my testing I found the meter reading to be quite accurate in terms of decibels. I fabricated a voltage divider using a potentiometer so I could reduce the input level to one of the meter inputs. I monitored the input signal to both inputs using a Tektronix two-channel oscilloscope with digital voltage readouts so I could calculate the decibel difference between the two meter inputs. The Fozgometer tracked quite accurately in either direction.
When measuring both of my phono cartridges it was also quite accurate in displaying the actual decibel level of crosstalk when using line-level signals from the output of my phono stage. It gave erroneous readings when connected directly to the phono cartridge, though. Therefore, I would not trust it to provide accurate azimuth adjustment when connected directly to a phono cartridge. On the other hand, I think it works very well when connected to the output of a phono stage. YMMV
If you would like to do more thorough testing, I'm all for it. It will be interesting to see your results.
Best regards,
John Elison
