And although I can not say that I tried all Shures and all possibe phono combinations I had number of Shures that I can not even remember, numbers in 70ies, 90es, V12 II, V15 IV to V15VxMR, Realistic V15 (and something) over the several decades. And have the same feeling, they have emhasized bass and sound warm, but there is hardness (distortion??) in the midrange. So although initially pleasant, I never stayed with any.
I had Grace F9E for years, and that was my favorite, but Ortofon OM20 and OM Super 20 are my next best for the price, I like dthem better than 30, and never had 40.
(But I started to use MC-s long time ago as a primary cartridge.)
