After mounting my SME 309 onto my VPI armboard & ascertaining that the arm, when in locked position, was lying parallel to the ends of the board, I discovered that the arm didn't quite swing far enough to reach the end of LPs. In order to get the arm/stylus to play an entire LP, I needed to shift the entire 309 assembly a bit to the left. The armboard was purchased directly from VPI, predrilled for the 309, so I am assuming it was done correctly. Outside of cosmetic considerations are there any potential problems associated with the arm not being mounted perfectly straight in its board? The cartridge, BTW, is properly adjusted with respect to SME's protractor. Thanks.
