I guess I'll have to make some measurements of my own. I'm inclined to think the ripple might be due to the strobe even though Sound Hi Fi denies this in their comments at the end of the article. I'll see if I can make some measurements in the next couple of days to see if I get 120-Hz ripple since I'm in the USA with mains frequency of 60-Hz.
