"I feel that since I am a working guy, squeezing some other poor worker with few or no options working under a communist regime, just so I can save a few bucks on a luxury item, is not good for my self image."
The Chinese government is not a true communist state in the true Marxist sense. It's a capitalist Stalinist regime, which sounds like an oxymoron to some people but many Marxists do not consider the government under Mao or Stalin really Marxist, just a couple dictators using the communist name for their exploitation of the working class, the same thing for neo-Nazi movement calling themselves the National Socialists. Many labels these days have absolutely nothing to do with Marxism, socialism, nor communism.
Anyway, I do admire your reasoning for not buying a turntable that exploits the working class. Not many people can do that... Just to play devil's advocate, do you think that certain worker who assemble the WT turntable is better off without the manufacturing in China? Something to ponder...... And when will America start manufacturing stuff again?
