Greetings- To decide for yourself without putting out much money, try what I did. I bought a regulation (official size and weight) NFL hockey puck, found the exact center, and drilled a hole 1/32 of an inch smaller than the diameter of the Garrard 401 spindle. Slightly tight fit at first, but it will hold down and flatten a warped record and is small enough in diameter (3 inches?), that it won't interfere with the tonearm headshell at the end of the record.Try it, you'll be pleasantly surprised at how well it works.
