Welcome Licorice Pizza (LP) lovers! Setup guides and Vinyl FAQ.

A few things...wow...long.

Had some time tonight to tackle the TD124 again.

Here are the steps I took to resolve some of my motor noise issues.

1) Per the manual I applied a bit of talcum powder to the belt, just a bit and no more noise at all when applying the brake vane to it's full coverage of the magnet. Yes! So it turns out the belt was acting up during the braking process not the motor.

2) Per Peter's suggestion of running the motor @ 125/150 I decided to check my AC again and I'm getting 124VAC so I switched the voltage commutator over to 125/150. Now the motor is running quieter than before and with full braking it is hard to hear anything coming from the motor at all. I'm pumped but of course the platter is running too slow now. So with the vane about 1/3 engaged I'm spot on speed wise and the motor is running a whole order smoother and quieter.

Next spun-up Joe Cocker/Sheffield Steel that I have been listening to for the past few days really not expecting anything different as I was happy just that I cleared up my noise issue.

Wow! Bass lines are coming out clearer than before with no loss of drive or slam. Everything sounds cleaner now. Kind of like your hearing a different record than your used to.

Summing it up the belt fix cleared up the noise issue I was having but switching over to the 125/150 really made an improvement that I wasn't expecting.

We need to set-up some type of award process here on the AA to recognize outstanding contribution. Really, no BS. I'm sure there are many AA members that would have never tried rebuilding/refurbing the TD124 without your insight, help and support.

Thank you Peter Fowler.
