That "Published Version" contains nothing about SRA, just different kinds of VTA ;-) Also, JR is quite incorrect about the 2 degree cutterhead rake angle. That represents a maximum cutterhead angle, but what's actually used is up to the lathe operator, and they all have their own ideas -- mostly they center around 1.4 degrees +/_. Usually a min. of 1 deg. to a max of 1.7 deg.Here's a picture of a stylus (my Transfiguration Temper W) at absolute vertical on a "first surface" mirror (the only setting that produces that perfect hourglass shape between the stylus and its reflection). BTW, Mr. Risch, bless his heart, is also wrong about damaging a stylus by setting it on a (first surface) mirror. That "surface" is silver, not glass, and quite soft!
