OK, now I see where the bear sat in the buckwheat!

and I understand why KIS, you were led to that particular point of view!

First let's be clear that Mr. Horii's arm is a unipivot design -- one to which it's virtually impossible to apply anti-skate force; and one that has inherent difficulty maintaining vertical azimuth as well. The only person who claims to have finally solved these problems is Bob Graham, and only with his latest Phantom II tonearm. He claims he's managed to apply the necessary corrections (antiskate, damping, and maintaining vertical alignment of the stylus) by using magnetic force. That's because it's impossible to mechanically apply any kind of stabilizing forces to a unipivot arm -- you make any other contact than the unipivot itself and you knock them off kilter! I like my SME V better also (John ;-), but if I ever were to consider a unipivot design, it would definitely be the Phantom II.

So, naturally Mr. Horii is going to avoid discussing any of the very real shortcomings of his unipivot tonearm design, while describing the very real attributes of bearing designs as if they were huge flaws!! Not a very gentlemanly approach -- Bob Graham would never stoop to such tactics (see link below.) I counted FIVE mis-statements and factual errors just in Mr. Horii's short opening paragraph!
