You are absolutely correct. I think KIS is making a very large mountain out of a very small molehill here ;-) Skating forces are EXTREMELY low today due to the very low friction developed by line contact styli (conical and elliptical are another matter.) Typical AS setting for an MC cartridge tracking at 2 grams is under a gram and many people don't use it at all (with MC cartridges) due to their stiff suspensions resulting in very little cantilever deflection, if any.
As for headshell offset, it doesn't create any unique forces of its own against the cantilever. It IS important IMO that the vertical bearing of the TA be perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the cartridge so that the stylus azimuth won't change if the record is warped (this of course doesn't apply to unipivot TA's)
