You're spot on. I've been checking into the Vinyl Asylum since last December daily and picked-up great info along the way for setting-up an analog rig. All this sideways movement with cartridges & TT's with some of these guys just makes me laugh. When I started checking in the 103/Uwe was the rage with all the expoxying and cementing. I commend the guys who did all the leg work and I thanked them for it. The 103/Uwe is the real deal. Now it's the Ortofon MM thing. Give me a break. You start to lose credibility with me if you move one step up and then two steps back. Are we not all in pursuit for the best sound possible? You could be saving up for a better TT and arm combination instead monkeying around with mid-fi stuff. Linn is right about one thing for sure. It's starts with the source- the turntable, not the cartridge.
