You are absolutely correct regarding output levels. My MC cartridge at the time, a Benz Glider, had an output of 0.7 mv. So on low, the Jarrah did sound fine. I've since moved up to an Art Audio Vinyl One. The Vinyl One also has high output, so when it's set at optimum output level, I have to keep the 9200 volume control set at about the 9 to 10 o'clock position -- this is less than its optimum position. I sure do like the sound of a good tube phono amp, and as a result I don't want to change my phono amp for just this reason. (Besides the cost of changing!).
I liked the Jarrah so much, I kept it. I should probably let it go, since the internal phono amp in the 9200 would be an excellent backup. But the Jarrah was my introduction into what a nice external phono amp can do for a system. I'd used internal phono amps on preamps and then the integrated amp for many years. I didn't realize what I was missing until I tried the Jarrah.
