perhaps NuWave has not missed the point.
Again assuming that the properties of the belt are equal through out it's length, the areas that stretch and recoil would do so consistently.
At any given point along the tangent of the belt leaving the platter the amount of stretch on the belt would be constant, likewise the recoil around the pulley.
This assumes there is a static load on the belt, which is dependent upon the mass of the platter overcoming any changes in drag on the stylus.
