Definitely try the 1/4' rubber mat from KAB

because:

1. it's possible that you're still far above optimum VTA. With a garden variety DL-103 on my SL-1200 with 1/8" mat, I too had to set VTA down to 0mm for best results. With Kevin's 1/4" rubber mat, the optimum VTA is 1.5mm, which means that with the 1/8" mat the VTA set at 0mm was still 1.5mm above optimum.

2. Kevin's 1/4" rubber mat sounds better to me with all cartridges than all other mats and combinations of mats I have, which include rubber, felt, foam, none-felt and Herbies. The 1/4" rubber is much better than any 2 other mats having a combined thickness of 1/4".

3. +/-0.5mm from optimum VTA can make a big difference in sound with any cartridge. (be glad for VTAF, not some 2mm spacer!)
