Depends on the table

For example:
on my Rega P3 I eventually came to leaving the dust cover on during play as it seemed to limit the RB300 arm's tendency to pickup irritating feedback,
but with the SL1200 I take the cover off as on that table it seems to contribute to feedback.

I like the hinges on the SL1200 cover as they are snug but still separate easily. The cover tilts up and then with a subtle backward pressure the hinges release so the cover can be placed aside during play. The SL1200 hinged cover minimizes the risk of arm or record damage. I have a good outoftheway location for the cover during play so it doesn't cause any trouble.
