What I have found is that first pressings of vinyl releases(UK) are superior to re-issues,more open and better highs in most if not all cases.The only one that differs from the above in my experience is Joni Mitchells "Ladies of the Canyon" the 1st pressing is slightly laid back and plummy.Similair with cd's "Sgt Pepper" on cd is not a patch on the 1st pressings on vinyl,in fact its not a patch later pressings/re-issues IME.Not quite the question you asked,but relatively important IMO.
