Re: AT440MLa vs. Goldring 10xx

I have both an AT440MLa and a 1022GX. The AT is better in every respect. The 1022GX is definitely not what you're looking for.

The Grado Prestige carts have heavier bass, but not as deep nor as well defined as the AT. The Grado mid-range is more lush. The Grados are very musical on the SL1200 as is the AT440MLa, but they don't track as well. I have been able to get them to track the inner grooves well, but it isn't that easy to do. You may like the Grado Red or Gold.

If you were willing to try a LOMC, I think you'd be very pleased with the DL-103 on your SL1200 paired up with a couple of Cinemag SUT's. It's everything you want, and if anything has even more detail that the AT.
