Rega recommends that a Rega dealer installs a Rega cartridge.
Perhaps Stereophile didn't follow that advice.OTOH, I had a P3 with Elys cartridge and couldn't get it to sound anything but lean and somewhat bright, compared to the other cartridges I had on hand.
So why am I not surprised at Stereophile's finding?
Furthermore, I've tried the P2 and P3 and haven't been overly impressed, regardless of cartridge. There are other low-cost TT's out there that are much more statisfying to me.
JMHO and YMMV, etc., of course.
