Welcome Licorice Pizza (LP) lovers! Setup guides and Vinyl FAQ.

I used to rent a Nitty Gritty machine from . . .

my local audio dealer. He also supplied a mat which was about 15 inches square and about 1/2 inch thick with a 12 inch circular section in the center which was another 1/4 inch higher, all fashioned from one chunk of very soft high density foam. It was a retail item with a catchy name embossed in it; but apparently not catchy enough as I can't recall the name.

The record to be cleaned was placed on the circular platform and fluid was applied and scrubbed with the NG brush. Then it was vacuumed on the RCM.

I think any heavy rubber turntable mat would work just as well. If you can't find one really cheap at the local thrift, the one Kevin at KAB sells for Technics SL1200's for $20 would work really well as it's 1/4" thick and very solid.
