Actually, there are three and only three independent parameters that define a tonearm's alignment geometry. They are effective length, mounting distance, and offset angle. If the truth be told, Baerwald's alignment null-points change slightly for different effective length tonearms even with fixed inner and outer grooves. This is also true for Löfgren and Stevenson. The reason is that the mathematics developed by Baerwald, Löfgren, and Stevenson are all approximations. If you use trigonometry to solve the pivot-stylus-spindle triangle, you will understand the truth.In other words, Baerwald's alignment null-points for a 237.00-mm effective length tonearm are not really 65.998-mm and 120.891-mm. Furthermore, the linear offset for such a tonearm is not really 93.445-mm, either. The numbers in the following graph depict the true Baerwald parameters to five significant figures for a 237.00-mm effective length tonearm.
