Is there a secret hand shake for the broken cantilever club?

It has been a month or two since the motor on my TT died. At the time I had just shelled out for a new pre amp (Bottlehead Foreplay) and a new rack for the system, I had to wait a bit to replace motor.

The construction of the Foreplay was completed last month, USPS had delivered a handful of LPs in the last week and the new motor arrived today . Tonight, I told the fellas not to expect me for MNF at the local watering hole, I had some spinnin' to do!

So as I lowered the arm, anticipating the long missed analog bliss, there was nothing but crud and distortion. Aaaahhhhhhhh!! WTF? Checked all the connections, re-seated the tubes, etc... no change. At this point I cringed remembering all the broken cantilever posts that appear here at the VA. "No please, not me!" I plead in vain. Sure enough, somewhere in the shuffle over the last couple months I had tweaked the cantilever.

Needless to say I joined my buds for MNF and tried to come to terms with my gaff. I had about 300 hours on the Benz Micro Glider before I destroyed it. At present there is nothing in the budget for a cart. I guess the recent acquisitions; Bill, Nat, Horace, and Sidney, will have to wait.

A couple questions, if I may:

> I have the Goldring Maestro that came with my TT but I'm wary of the hours on it. Does any know a place or person in LA/Orange County that could inspect it for me? It may or may not have some life left in it.

> The cantilever doesn't appear broken or bent, just out of alignment what are my options for repair?

Thanks in advance.
