Lighter fluid is naphtha, which is a solvent that will attack and soften vinyl with long term exposure. I suppose short term exposure would be OK as long as ALL of it is removed by subsequently washing with a safe fluid. However, I would be afraid that no matter how much I washed it afterwards that traces would still remain. I have heard stories of dealers at record shows using lighter fluid on LP’s to give them a nice shine.Personally, I would not use it on my LP's, but that’s just me.
