I also use a Foreplay (recently completed). Your CD player, I assume like mine, has a higher output voltage than the Seduction. I think this is normal and may be the same with any phono pre (just a guess). My FP3 came with the Sweet Whispers attenuators that included extra resistors to pad out this difference in levels.I don't know if a higher output cart will remedy this difference. You may want to ask this at the Bottlehead forum. I'm sure someone there will know.
Just another thought, what is the efficiency of your speakers? The general rule of thumb is 95dB or more with low-watt SET amps.
