On the subject of Tower Records....

....from a blog at USA Today:

" I, myself am extremely sad that Tower Records is closing. I still have fond memories of my best bud and I spending hours at a time in our local Tower Records (the one on 17th & Superior in Costa Mesa, CA). I'm mainly going to miss the smell of the store. Nothing smells quite like a new CD. Plus, there's a lot to be said for looking through a CD booklet while listening to it for the first time. Seeing producers, writers, musicians listed, and then going back to Tower to look them up, too!"

The smell of a new CD? Looking through a CD booklet?

I guess it all depends on your perspective. As downloading becomes more popular as a source of music, even those youngsters who were raised only on CD's are bemoaning the loss of that tangible item you can hold in your hands.

Interesting parallel to our little obsession, don't you think?
