An itegrated amplifier isexactly what you want. receivers made today are mainly for surround sound home theather setups and not very good sounding for 2-channel records. An integrated amp is generally much better sounding and made specifically for high quality 2-channel audio. There are good integrated amps at all price ranges from around $250 and up. One thing to consider is that not all integrated amp have a phono input for a turntable, so make sure the one your going to buy has a phono input. If not you would have to buy a seperate phono stage which will cost anywere from $50+. What kind of money are you willing spend and what is the rest of your system like?? A few good integrated amps that arent to expensive and have input for your turntable are the Rotel ra-1062, Rega Brio, Marantz pm7000 just to name a few around $500-750.
