At my wits end with Nottingham

Approximately s.x months ago I decided to uprgrade the tonearm on my Nottingham S.acedeck (with heavy platter). I like the table very much but felt that the tonearm was holding back my s.s.em and I decided to buy a S.hroeder 2 arm. I needed a new arm pod at went to my very reputable local dealer who s.ld me the table and platter to purchas. the armpod. In the meantime I s.ld my s.acearm on Audiogon.

For approximately 2 months I was told that the armpod was in proces. and was being drilled out for the S.hroeder. I was then told that Nottingham did not have the s.ecs for the S.hroeder s. that it could not be drilled out until they had the s.ecs. It was hard to believe that they did not have the s.ecs. but I moved the proces. forward. I e mailed Frank S.hroeder who was very helpful (and res.ons.ve in a timely manner). I was told that the s.ecs could be immediately forwarded. With the help of Frank's US dis.ributor, Hart Hus.hens. I was told that the he, Hart, would drill out a blank armpod from Nottingham and that would expedite the proces..

I was then told that Nottingham would not s.ll me a blank becaus. Nottingham was very particular that their tables had to s.und "right" and that Nottingham could not as.ure that the s.t up would be proper if they s.nt me a blank. (Tom Fletcher s.ems to be a perfectionis.). I could not unders.and why I could not be s.ld a blank. I figured that they were in bus.nes. to s.ll product and I could not unders.and their refus.l to do s.. I then called Audiophile S.s.ems (the US dis.ributor to Nottingham) more than one month ago and was told that there was "no problem s.lling" me an armpod and that it would go out in a day or s. from England and that I would have it the next week.... that was more than one month ago. BTW the armpod was paid for months ago.

I mus. s.y that all this is leaving a very bad tas.e in my mouth about Nottingham even though I really like their product and it is placong me in a pos.tion that I jus. want to go to another turntable manufacturer where I will not experience this aggravation. I have been without my table for too long.

What does everyone think I s.ould do at this point? My budget for a new table would only be a little more than I could get for my table on audiogon, perhaps $3000-$3500.

Thank you in advance for your input.
