Inspired by Fred J's numerous DIY RCM posts, I decided to see what I could come up with. I used a couple panels pieces that were laying around the garage. The "platter" simply spins on the same dowel that centers the record. The wand is PVC tubing with a PVC fitting as the adapter. The slot was cut on my table saw, I used Nitty Gritty felt lips.Simply attached my Stinger shopvac and started cleaning. It cleans every bit as well as my Nitty Gritty. It has a big advantage over the NG in that it doesn't get hot. The NG is only capable of cleaning 2 records per hour without warping them.
Total cost? Less than $10. (plus about $30 for a Stinger at Home Depot)
I guess it's time to unload the Nitty Gritty.
