In general, the biggest differences I've experienced on my turntables between MC and MM (or iron) cartridges are:- the MC have better micro-dynamics and detail.
- MC have a more textured soundstage (e.g., inner detail).
- MC have a deeper soundstage, MM (and iron) seem to have a wider but flatter one.
- MC have better high frequency performance.
- MM (and iron) have better bass performance (or maybe its just Grado!).I've used MC for the last eight years so this may not be a fair comparison or current if MM performance has significantly improved. But back when I was switching between the two types, it was the above differences that caused me to decide to stick with MC cartridges.
