Welcome Licorice Pizza (LP) lovers! Setup guides and Vinyl FAQ.

The tonal aspects of the Benz Ruby 3 have changed.

When I first installed the Ruby 3, I thought it had great bass, body and fleshiness, right out of the box! After 5 or 6 hours, it began to lean out and has proceeded (maybe) to get even more lean.

At first I wasn't that surprised because I have heard cartridges break-in where the break-in sonic quality seemed to follow a bit of a "bathtub curve".

Also, I am very leary of the "new component syndrome" where a person thinks a new component sounds great and after some time passes with the new component, he then realizes that it is not so great.

I kept waiting for improvement and its not happening, so I placed my original post. ==> Are you thinking its a cartridge problem? What could cause excessive leaness in a cartridge and nothing else? My only experience with cartridge failure has been fairly dramatic - channel goes out, etc.

Thanks!
