Hi Fretless,It just goes to show that one never really knows until they actually hear a product. Based on Art Audio's description of the Vinyl Reference, I assumed (bad, bad me) that it would be better than my Vinyl One. Based on my Vinyl One sound, the only thing I think could be improved (to my ears) is dynamics. It could be due to the gain tubes I'm using (Mullards). And I also believe that a large external power supply would help.
But its a small nitpick on my part. I've been very pleased with the unit and have no intentions of changing to something else.
On another topic, I took your suggestion from early last year in my turntable search, and ended up buying an Avid Volvere. It took me a while to get the correct armboard adapter for my OL Encounter but since then the Avid has been spinning and spinning. I'll need to post a mini-review after a while. Its a really nice table!
