The time has come for a new cart. After reading some reviews and the VA archives the short list is the Benz Micro Glider or the Dynavector 20x, both in the high output version. Price difference with a trade-in is less than $100.

My table is an MMF-7 with a Project 9 arm. The pre is a Bottlehead Seduction. 85% of what I listen to is classical or jazz with an abundance of vocals from either.

I was leaning heavily to the Glider until Muzikmike linked a review on a previous thread. This review can be summed up by it's last sentence, "The idea of going back to listening to soundstage and imaging with the Glider instead of music with the Dynavector was not to my liking." The caveat being the reviewer was comparing the 20X to an older Series 1 Glider.

Compatibility wise, I read somewhere that the Project 9 prefers a lighter, high compliance cart. The weight/compliance of the Glider is 6.8 /14, the 20x is 8.6/12. This would seem to give an advantage to the Benz.

Also, there seem to be quite a few MMF-7 owners running the Glider and only a few with the 20X. Is the MMF-7/Glider combo that great or has it just built up some momentum here in the Asylum?

So here's where I sit, firmly on the fence:

How does the Series 2 Glider compare to the original?

Is the 20X noticeably more musical than the newer Glider?

How does tracking compare?

Is the 20X too heavy or stiff for the P9 arm? (Can I actually read and make sense out of a spec?)

If you're driving at the speed of light and turn on your headlights does anything happen?

Thanks, your thoughts are appreciated.
