Slow day, time for tweaking.

Working at home today, pretty light load, decided to do my first bit o' tweaking on the MMF-7.

First target is the felt mat. Couldn't find cork stickers anywhere, settled for 12x12 squares. Made a 12" circle, put a hole in the middle and slapped it on the table. This is where the fun began.

Although I hadn't tried adjusting the VTA since I got the table in July, it was necessary with the added thickness of the cork mat. A bit tricky but not impossible to deal with, should have tried it sooner. I can see where an "on-the-fly" type adjustment would come in handy. Too bad there's not one available for Project arms.

Unfortunately, the cork was too thick to allow the record clamp to thread in. I played one side while I had the cork in place. Next up was a rubber mat off on old POS linear tracker, more VTA changes.

Results? I noticed much more difference in VTA changes than mat changes. I would have preferred to give the cork more of a chance but I'm guessing the clamp is more important. Running with the rubber mat seems to provide a deeper bass than the felt, not sure what it did for the mids or highs. Of course it could all be VTA changes. I guess I should put the felt mat back on and do some more tweaking to get a reference.

Anyone know where I can find the cork stickers or cork sheets thinner than 1/4"? Tried all the hardware and Target/Wall-Marts in my area with no luck.
