I ran into the same problem.. it's particularly harsh when a non-audiophile friend brings over a favorite record (which sounds fine on their system) to hear on my far more expensive and resolving system and it's an earsplitting, disappointing experience.. they're wondering, and you're feeling like, "why did I spend all this money?".My attitude for any future equipment purchases is to err on the side of euphony over low level detail or audiophile sound. Smooth, liquid, warm, tonally accurate, harmonically rich sound is far more satisfying in the long run.. this is music we're talking about, we're not heartless analyzing machines.. ultimately it's about enjoyment of music, not graphs.
