So I pull out a classical LP at random: Lalo, Symphonie Espagnole / Saint-Saens, Concerto for Violin & Orch #3 on Vox Stereo. (STPL 511.590) I picked this up the local thrift a month or so ago. Cleaned it and played it once then filed it. I mustn't have listened too closely.
When I drop the needle and music starts it sounds great! "Holy cow," I say to myself, "who is Vox?" I don't think I've got any others in my modest collection. I grab the cover and give it a read, Vox Productions, Inc. New York, NY. Mastering: Rudolf Van Gelder.
I wasn't aware of anything he did outside of Blue Note. I'll have to keep an eye out for more Vox.
