If you must spend the money, upgrade your tubes, get a good value MC cartridge, and put some $ aside earmarked just for record shopping. I've finally accepted that buying records gives me far more dollar-to-pleasure then buying equipment. Seems like prices on good used LP's are going nowhere but up, so you can justify the cost as investment rather then consumption.I have a Clearaudio virt. wood, but I just pulled the trigger on a Zyx R100. I've found that when I sit down and REALLY listen to music, I usually play something such as jazz, classical, singer-songwriter - more acoustic or vocal then rock n' roll or dance. So it makes sense for me to buy equipment that excels in that area.
