Jim, any change to the mass of the arm changes the eff mass. As I have pointed out here in the past regarding the VPI headshell weight 3 grams of "actual" weight at the headshell may result in a change o effective mass of almost nothing or lots more, it depends on the overall mass and distribution of that mass of the original arm. Likewise a change in C/W mass, i.e. increase, will decrease the effective mass of the arm but how much is dependant on the amount and position of the C/W and the amount of the mass of the original arm.
