Yes, because of the popularity I've already thought of the VPIs, and the Scout would be a great introductory experience of VPI tables, but the problem is there are no VPI dealers close enough for me to hear one. So it's the same problem as the SL-1200, that is I'd have to buy on spec., and the Scout is about the same price as the Audio Note.My Audio Note dealer says he's heard the VPIs and thinks they sound more like the Rega tables, but of course he's trying to sell me one of his.
The real question I guess is would the SL-1200 be fairly close to the Scout and TT1 league but leave me with a lot of unspent cash.
