Need help choosing new turntable

My Rega P3/RB300 has been sold and I would like some advice from the many knowledgeable inmates of this asylum regarding my next turntable acquisition.

With the P3 gone, I'm now using my backup table, a JVC JL-A20 with Grado black, which although not as clear or detailed sounding as the P3, is more musically involving to me.

One prospective turntable that has my interest is the Audio Note TT1/ARM1/IQ1 combo. Whereas the P3 is lively and detailed, the TT1 while being clear and detailed, gives a warmer, more relaxed and involving presentation, which is more to my liking. The downside is the price at about $2000.

Another table that has my curiosity due to all the talk on this forum, is the Technics SL1200MK5. Alas, there is no way for me to audition this table before purchase. However, I could always order the 1200 with say the Stanton Groovemaster II cart, and if it isn't to my liking could always sell it lightly used for only a moderate loss. At less than $1k, if it does the same trick at the TT1, it would be a real bargain.

Are there other inmates here that have gone down this road already and can give me much-needed advice?

Should I try the SL1200/GroovemasterII or just bite the bullet and buy the Audio Note product? What say you?

All replies will be much appreciated.
