Potential problems, but there are options

Use caution. There's a possibility you could overload the phono section by using too much gain -- listening for distortion may not work well because the RIAA correction applied by the phono section may make the sound distorted anyway. In other words, you might not be able to tell overload distortion from distortion caused by RIAA curve correction (which is for LPs).

I don't know how much damage it would do to the phono section but there are much better ways to burn-in a phono section. I recall that Granite Audio made a CD specifically for this purpose. It had signal output safeguards (i.e., very low) and used varying frequencies which contribute to good burn-in. I think Music Direct carried it.

Also, the Cardas sweeper and burn-in LP has some burn-in tracks with locked grooves. I've not used them, but the sweeper part of the LP is excellent.

Hagerman also makes a reverse RIAA filter and a burn-in unit but they would be more pricey, although still reasonable in cost.
