Thanks for that Jim,I have a Michell Orbe NC,which has a seperate power supply and motor.

I have just changed my pre-amp from a Croft to a Musical Fidelity,not because of the problem,just fancied a change.However the problem is/was there with both pre-amps,so you could be onto something.

Its no big deal with me,but I'm curious.

I also have humm,not loud,which diminishes after a few seconds when I turn the power amp on(MF again).Can't really determine where thats coming from,so another mystery,probably an earth loop.
