Mastering weirdness?

Last night I was listening to Miles Davis My Funny Valentine Live on Columbia stereo, a re-issue but I'm not sure how old. Side one has the piano on the left channel and the drums on the right, with Miles' horn and the bass pretty much centered.

I flip the record to listen to side two and now the piano is on the right and the drums on the left. What's up with that? Is this a mastering screw up or what? Anyone else notice this?

GREAT music! I don't know why, but I preferred the side two sound.
